Redskin by definition is a contemptuous term for a North American Indian. It’s origins are deeply rooted in the violence for profit perpetrated against Indigenous peoples, particularly in the acquisition/sale of Indigenous scalps/flesh. There is no honor in the historical maiming of a group of people for profit. We implore that Morris Community change their team names and mascots from Morris Redskins to something that actually honors the history of the region.
