Dear Sir,

Contrary to the spin you are putting on the matter, the Russian Federation  is the unqualified aggressor in the Ukraine war. Despite your attempt to otherwise characterize it, the use of force by the Ukrainian nation is about the defense of the people and the very earth itself from the torrent of cluster bombs, phosphorous bombs and ballistic missiles raining death and horror on schools, hospitals and apartment blocks.

It is about the displacement of millions of Ukrainian civilians and the leveling of cities - reminiscent of the fate of Aleppo and the Chechen city of Grozny after similar "military operations" under the terror of Russian armaments.

On May 2, 2022 you published a call for a so-called "tribunal" to blame the West for Moscow's aggression. Couched in seemingly reasonable verbiage, it is counterproductive. Your contention that this war is a conspiratorial "geopolitics" for the benefit of nefarious actors of the West does violence to the many victims — people who have been displaced, terrorized, injured or killed. In many cases they leave orphaned children, and their final hours were spent lingering under piles of rubble with no water, no medical attention, and no hope for survival.

Whether or not your idea is implemented, advancement of this biased panel you propose aids and abets the  gross violation of international law by the invader  This conduct has  been well documented in places like Bucha, Irpin and Mariupol and will indeed be subject to a legitimate war crimes prosecution which process is already underway. No right-minded person appreciates your attempt to provide a smokescreen for the perpetrators.

As was the case for the governments and resistance movements that stood up to the Third Reich by force of arms, the Ukrainians are now fighting to deter the Russian Federation from implementing annexation, if not destruction, of their country. These blatant plans are outlined in the notorious "Blueprint for Genocide" circulating in Kremlin circles.

We call upon you to withdraw your counterproductive call for a tribunal with foregone conclusions blaming the West for Kremlin malfeasance. Such a tribunal  can only be regarded as a sham, and a kangaroo court with nothing positive to contribute and which would be used by propagandists to undermine the defense of the Ukrainian people. 

Please, just stop. Drop this project, which will do real damage, and work on something productive. For instance, you might throw your intellectual resources into defending Russians who are protesting the war. We know you can do better. Please do so.
