The residents of the Ribble Valley are being short changed.

Wouldn't it be refreshing to have a hard-working constituency MP who dedicates their public life to serving all constituents and not just their own supporters. Wouldn't it be refreshing to have an MP who puts as top priority the problems and concerns that face all constituents, very real problems such as cuts to local services - libraries, public transport, community centres, police and hospitals - and environmental issues such as flooding and uncontrollable house building. Wouldn't it be refreshing to have an MP who is not that interested in meeting celebrities or preoccupied with their own public image but rather an MP who is happy to engage in intelligent debate with all constituents and not ignore or block on social media the comments of people who hold a different opinion. Wouldn't it be refreshing to have an MP who realises that decisions made by MPs in the 'Westminster Bubble' actually have real consequences in the real world. In the light of the EU referendum, wouldn't it be refreshing to have an MP who is compassionate, sympathetic, caring and working hard to heal differences in the community rather than gloating and further stirring up anger through their own divisive comments on social media.

Yes this would be refreshing. But at the moment we have Nigel Evans. An MP who presents himself as a new 'champion of democracy' even though he occupies his safe seat having secured only 33% of the eligible vote at the 2015 general election.

With a very trying few years ahead for the residents of the Ribble Valley - not least with the spectre of fracking on the horizon - this petition asks that Nigel Evans MP do the honourable thing and step down so that the Ribble Valley can elect an MP more suitable for the job of representing them in the challenging years ahead.
