My name is Tiffany. I am 40 years old. I have Spina Bifida. I use a power wheelchair to get around. I also have chronic pain in my knees and back. The only time I don’t have pain is when I am in warm water. 
There is a beautiful new YMCA in Pittsford NY that has been open less than a year. It have a warm water pool that is about 86 degrees. It also have a hydro massage chair. Most importantly, ALL of the restrooms are big enough to not only accommodate my larger chair but I can do my bathroom routine (which requires me to lay almost completely flat) comfortably without feeling I’m jammed up against the wall. 
The problem is the transportation service I use, RTS Access (formerly known as liftline) can not take me to this location. RTS Access is part of the city’s public transportation system. So any destination has to be 3/4 of a mile from an RGRTA bus stop. This YMCA is about 1.7 miles away. And there are little to no sidewalks so even if I did get dropped off at the stop I’d have to travel over a mile in the street. 
This YMCA has offices that are part of the University of Rochester Medical Center, so I can imagine I’m not the only one who could benefit from having easier access to this facility. 
It is an amazing place that is so accessible for people with limited mobility or other health concerns. Not to mention incredible people who work there. 
I just want a chance to go a couple times a week. My goal is to be as healthy, mentally and physically, as possible within my given set of circumstances. I just need some help.
