We are determined to make the veto option part of the national conversation. We don’t think it’s possible without getting thousands to sign these petitions.

If we don’t elect representatives with the consent of the majority, then we are being ruled, not represented. It’s not a matter of opinion; it’s a fact. Do you agree?

The current government is making all kinds of decisions without our consent. How can our current system give them this kind of power with so few votes?

Isn't it crazy that we call this democracy? Are we mistaken in viewing our current system as a travesty. It’s more accurately described as an electoral oligarchy, which only superficially adheres to the principles of democratic governance?

We are convinced this reform is essential to guarantee governance that reliably serves our best interests. True democracy should maximise the common good.

If we had the democratic option to veto, instead of the “lead, follow or get-out-of-the-way” system, would we have the government we have now? Would the previous government been so lackadaisical?

Even if you currently support a political party, the same pressures that have rendered all other parties ineffective will inevitably corrupt that party as well.

(Look up "Iron Law of Oligarchy". Honestly, everyone should know about it.)

Even with competent people working in good faith (How many of the current crop have either characteristic?), how can they know if their policies are effective without periodically obtaining a measure of public dissatisfaction and have the incentive to improve? The veto provides that information and incentive. They will discover patterns of dissatisfaction that they can use to fine-tune policies, so they are as effective as possible.

It keeps politicians tethered to their voters and prevents them from wandering off into some ideological lalaland. Its a simple and costless reform that can change the dynamic of the political process for the better.

Governance is very complex, but the principles on which it should be based are not. Let’s unite around making decisions by majority consent and respecting individual freedom.

What can be better?

We plan to enhance the veto campaign’s social media presence by launching a YouTube channel and publishing articles. 

We will post updates and hope you will help me by sharing our content so as to bring this reform to the attention of as many people as possible.

We will only provide updates when there is something significant or next when we reach 5,000 signatures.
