Revoke Destiny Church's Charity Status

Revoke Destiny Church's Charity Status
The issue
Destiny Church has been the subject of numerous controversies and concerns regarding its financial transparency and the nature of its operations. Despite being registered as a charity, there are growing doubts about its contributions to public good and how it utilizes its tax-exempt status.
Numerous reports and investigations have raised red flags over how the organization handles its finances. Concerns have been raised about the lavish lifestyles of its leaders, which include expensive properties and assets that seem inconsistent with the community-focused ethos expected of charitable entities. Furthermore, multiple testimonies have pointed towards instances of financial mismanagement and prioritizing personal gains over community welfare.
There is a significant lack of transparency and accountability in how Destiny Church uses its donations. Tax-exempt status is meant to support organizations that genuinely contribute to societal welfare, and misuse of this privilege undermines public trust in charitable institutions. This issue is compounded by allegations of manipulating and pressuring members to make large financial contributions, which often strain the finances of its followers.
In light of these concerning practices, it’s imperative for the regulatory authorities to investigate and assess whether Destiny Church truly meets the criteria that justify its current charity status. Removing its charity status would not only help ensure that our tax system supports only those organizations that serve public interest but also promotes greater accountability and integrity within the charitable sector.
Destiny Church promotes hate, violence, and encourages aggression towards others, all things which violates what makes an organisation a charity. Churches should not promote such disgusting behaviour and violence.
Just this year, seven people have been arrested for a Destiny Church-linked protest against a Pride event held in Auckland, all seven with assault-based charges.
The previous petition from Andrew Aleman has been closed for signatures, with 39,926 signatures.
Join the call for action to protect the integrity of charitable organizations by signing this petition and urging the relevant authorities to review Destiny Church's eligibility for tax-exempt status. Let's ensure that charities are held to the highest standards of transparency, accountability, and genuine public service.
