The Issue

On September 24, 2026 in Wilson, NC, tragedy struck and lives were irreversibly altered. Jason Williams and Charise Dickerson, two beloved members of our community, were taken from us far too soon. The grief that their families continue to bear is unimaginable, and their absence has left a void that can never truly be filled.

The man charged with this terrible crime, Collin McLaughlin, is currently out on bond despite facing charges of two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of felony death by motor vehicle related to the deaths of Jason and Charise. Allowing him to remain free while awaiting trial undermines the severity of his alleged actions and puts our community at risk.

The loss of Jason and Charise calls for accountability and justice. It is crucial that our legal system reflects the gravity of such offenses to deter similar actions in the future and to honor the lives lost. The revocation of Collin McLaughlin's bond would be a step towards ensuring that justice is not only done but seen to be done, reinforcing the message that actions have consequences, and underscoring the sanctity of life.

Every year, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, more than 10,000 lives are lost in America due to drunk driving-related incidents – this statistic includes individuals like Jason and Charise whose promising futures were stolen away. Justice demands a robust response to this epidemic, requiring courts to act decisively when individuals are charged with such grievous offenses.

We call upon the Wilson County judicial system to take immediate action and revoke the bond of Collin McLaughlin. Doing so would send a clear message that we value justice, and it would acknowledge the pain and suffering of the Williams and Dickerson families, who have been wrongfully deprived of their loved ones.

Join us in demanding justice for Jason and Charise by signing this petition. Let's come together as a community to make our voices heard and stand with the families in their pursuit of justice.
