Revoke California Senate Bill 1107 to Alleviate Auto Insurance Burden

The Issue

Like many in our community, I see every day the struggles of people living paycheck to paycheck. One of the main contributors to our financial struggles is the impact of California's Senate Bill 1107. This law has dramatically increased the cost of auto insurance, adding an insurmountable burden onto hard-working middle-class families. In my own life, my insurance policy has increased by over $100, a cost which might seem insignificant to some, but for individuals like myself, every dollar counts.

Introduced in 2022, Senate Bill 1107 brought with it changes to the rules surrounding auto insurance. One unpopular change was the introduction of a new factor in determining rates: the incidence of accidents and claims in a driver's specific geographic area. This reform wasn't based on individual driving records but the region's overall accident rates, resulting in drastically hiked premiums for countless Californians even with a flawless driving record.

According to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, Californians spend an average of $1,974 on auto insurance – above the national average of $1,517. Seeing as Californians already contend with a high cost of living and Senate Bill 1107 exacerbates this significantly - it is time for a change.

This petition urges California lawmakers to reconsider the impacts of Senate Bill 1107 on the lives of middle-class individuals and families. We are striving to bring about change in a system that seems to overlook the financial struggles of ordinary citizens. We urge our representatives to repeal Senate Bill 1107 and bring financial relief to the hard-working people of California. Please sign this petition and stand with us. Together, we can make a difference.
