The Issue

Citizens of Sandusky, Ohio, it's time to wake up and demand transparency. Aligned Data Centers has just constructed a massive 130-acre facility right here in our community, and it's wreaking havoc on our local economy and infringing on our privacy. Our electricity bills have skyrocketed by 200 to 300%, and this data center is nestled right across from one of the poorest neighborhoods in our city, worsening the burden on those already struggling to make ends meet.

But what really shocks us is the fact that this data center, along with thousands of others, enjoys a 40-year tax exemption—granted secretly without any public vote or consent. How is it possible that such a massive financial decision, affecting our community for generations, was made behind closed doors? These are our taxes, and decisions like this should require our input and approval. This systematic erasure of public oversight is unacceptable.

The purpose of this data center remains shrouded in mystery. We have flock cameras popping up everywhere, tracking our movements, tagging our licenses, pinging our phones, all under the guise of private entities. These actions are intruding into our personal lives without consent, beyond the influence of local or federal law enforcement. It's an unchecked expansion of the surveillance state, and it must stop.

We need to demand that Aligned Data Center's tax exemption is revoked immediately. We deserve better. Our community should not be footing the bill for corporate profits that disregard public consultation. We need the legislators who allowed this to take responsibility and change the policies that permit such exemptions without our consent.

Please, join me in urging Sandusky leaders to revoke the 40-year tax exemption granted to Aligned Data Centers. We must regain control over our local economy and privacy. Stand with me and sign this petition, ensuring our voices are heard, and our rights are protected.
