Revive “Miracle Mouse: Cranky's Miracle” with Annapurna Pictures

Revive “Miracle Mouse: Cranky's Miracle” with Annapurna Pictures
The Issue
In 2004, Tom Hignite, a Wisconsin based real estate home builder and Disney-fanatic, embarked on an ambitious journey to produce and direct a fully animated, 2D feature film, starring his company's mascot, Miracle Mouse. This unique project promised to be a milestone in animation, featuring the voices of renowned actors like Jane Lynch and Ernest Borgnine and the incredible talent of animators from Disney's recently closed Florida studio.
This project was developed into both a feature film, as well as into a weekly TV show. The film would’ve been about a character named Cranky Crane (played by the late Ernest Borgnine) whose home is invaded by ducks one morning. After lots of failed attempts to rid the ducks, Cranky angrily fires his workers Miracle Mouse and Okey Dokey the Beaver. After that, Miracle starts to question his own beliefs in life’s little “miracles” until one happens that changes Cranky’s life forever.
Despite the enthusiasm and potential, funding became a significant roadblock. In 2012, Tom launched a Kickstarter campaign in hopes of gathering support from Disney enthusiasts and animation lovers worldwide. Regrettably, the campaign did not reach its target, and the production was indefinitely suspended. The dream to see Miracle Mouse thrive on the big screen was transformed into a CGI alternative, and sadly, its fate remained unknown.
However, there's still hope. Bringing this project back to life with Annapurna Pictures and the collaboration of animation giants from Disney and Sullivan Bluth Studios to finish up the animation could fulfill this long-awaited dream. Annapurna, known for their commitment to unique and artistic films, would be the perfect partner to honor the spirit of Hignite's creation, while involving animators from Disney and Sullivan Bluth would ensure a top-quality artistic masterpiece.
Reviving “Miracle Mouse: Cranky’s Miracle” isn’t just about reliving the past; it's about celebrating creativity, passion, and the legacy of 2D animation. It's about giving justice to a vision that could inspire, entertain, and bring joy to audiences worldwide. Let's not let this dream slip away once again.
