Revive Herotopia and Smighties Universe projects simultaneously
The Issue
Herotopia was a Flash-based MMORPG created by American developer Herotainment, an award-winning transmedia and entertainment company and creator of the highly popular Smighties brand. The game's focus deals on a young group of superheroes that must deal with a gang called the Bully Bunch that is planning to play pranks such as defacing the Statue of Liberty in New York City. Herotopia let's younger players create their own avatars and choose a super power that they will use throughout the game. Gameplay consists of the user traveling throughout the world like New York, Paris, Beijing and the North Pole seeking out clues and games that utilize foreign language, reading skills, and geography. It also let's users create their own super hideout. It was first announced in 2010 by its creators Brian Krauss, and Wade and Caryn Temanas as a way to help children learn different ways to deal with bullies. A year later, the game was re-released in 2011 and published by British company Jagex, with Peter Cuneo investing in the game. As of 2019, the game appears to be taken offline and there is no official statement from the developers. The original critically-acclaimed Herotopia was positively received, the game received a positive review by Common Sense Media, who gave it high ratings for its positive messages and easy game play. Herotopia also won a Gold National Parenting Publications Awards for offering "kids a rich and engaging world for them to become their ultimate Superheroes". Stripes.com also positively reviewed the game, writing that the "game play, quests and games were fun and well suited for the 6-12 age range that the developers are aiming for" but that the music was "a bit repetitive".
Smighties Universe is a blockchain-based digital collectible platform that launched in early 2021, with initial digital "Smighties Pods" becoming available in January of the same year, followed by the announcement of physical toys bundled with NFTs launching globally a year later in April 2022 through a partnership with Toikido, a London-based entertainment company specializing in digital design and toys, established in 2020 by founder Darren Garnham. Unfortunately, Smighties Universe was faded due to the challenges of the blockchain/NFT space and potentially shifting entertainment trends. The original mobile games and NFT platform was largely inactive or have been discontinued, with few updates since 2021. There is no official statement from Reality Gaming Group, Herotainment or Toikido since the original mobile games and NFT platform was largely inactive or discontinued.
Kids, Herotopia Fans and Smighties fans want Herotainment to bring back Herotopia and Smighties Universe into two projects simultaneously Herotopia Reborn and Smighties Legacy.
Herotopia Reborn was going to be a kid-friendly HTML5-based MMORPG instead of Flash like the original Herotopia and the game will have new heroes, new villains, new worlds (Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Detroit. Seattle, Cleveland, Las Vegas, Nashville, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Santa Monica, Malibu, Laguna Beach, Waikiki (Honolulu, Hawaii), Washington D.C., Baltimore, Bridgeport, Hoboken, Toronto, Vancouver, British Columbia, London (Ontario, Montreal), Montreal, Quebec City, London (England), Barcelona, Rome, Venice, Sydney, Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro and Mexico City) that expands from New York, Paris, China, North Pole, Herotopia Island and the Smighties Playground, new powers and new features than the original Herotopia did. Players lets you create your own superhero (boy, girl, baby or animal) with more costumes (from street clothes (like jeans and shorts to boots and sneakers) to hero suits to masks (with or without) and gloves (particularly with gloves and/or fingerless gloves/without gloves aka bare hands)) and choose more powers than the original Herotopia did, with the addition of creating your own costume in the Costume Maker. The gameplay consists of the user traveling throughout not only New York, Paris, and Beijing, as well as the North Pole, but added more worlds (like Boston, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Tokyo, etc.) and seeking out more clues and games that utilize foreign language, reading skills, geography, etc.. The game also has more minigames which are also HTML5-based, as well as creating a super hideout with the addition of new items that you can customize your very own superhero hideout. They also added The Smighties Channel where you can watch videos for a young audience.
Smighties Legacy uses blockchain to create unique, scarce digital collectibles (NFTs) for each Smigthy character that are straight from not only the animated show Smighties but also straight from Smighties Universe, Smighty Sweeper, Mighty Smighties and Herotopia. Smighties Legacy was going to have Smighties legends, new Smighties, new elements, new rarities, new worlds, new Smighty Hotels and new features, as well as new Smighties Pods. Smighties Universe will be developed by Reality+ and Herotainment in partnership with Toikido. Besides the blockchain-based digital collectible platform, Reality+, Herotainment and Toikido will launch not only this blockchain-based digital collectible platform Smighties Legacy, but also launch a virtual world game of the same name aimed at younger kids and Smighties fans alike where you can create a Smighty and hang out in a virtual world just like Club Penguin. Plus a mobile game for iOS and Android devices titled Smighties Legacy: Trading Card Game, a card game is easy to pick up but more tough to put down. Master new elements, battle the forces, play with friends via Wi-Fi or online play where you can play against friends around the world and new hundreds of levels to beat. Smighties Legacy: Trading Card Game will be using the same gameplay as Mighty Smighties but they added new features something that Mighty Smighties does not have. Both the virtual world game and the mobile game are compatible with the blockchain-based digital collectible platform Smighties Legacy and Herotopia Reborn.
Sign the petition to bring back both Herotopia and Smighties Universe as both new projects in the works like Herotopia Reborn alongside Smighties Legacy, both kids, Herotopia fans and Smighties fans alike. #HerotopiaReborn #SmightiesLegacy #Herotainment #WeWantHerotopiaReborn #WeWantSmightiesLegacy #ComingSoon
