Hello petition supporters,
By bringing our voices together we managed to end THYC's lease on the shores of the Humber River.
Another threat to our public spaces is development without intention and this mindless development proposed at the edge of the Humber Ravine will definitely threaten the Humber Ravine in many ways.
I'm a huge supporter of increasing density within the borders of the City of Toronto but that density must be to improve the quality of life for all Toronto residents not just to enrich Doug Ford's developer donors and friends.
One of the areas Ford's developer donors are targeting is the Kingsway. This is actually a great neighborhood to increase density, but it must be targeted.
Living in Toronto has become unattainable for the vast majority of young families.
The Kingsway would be the ideal location for building homes for such families. We are close to the TTC, we have the Humber Ravine as our backyard for children to explore an commune with nature, there are plentiful schools in the area etc.
Yet once again, the developers are planning to cram this behemoth of an eye-soar with tiny studio and one bedroom units which do not allow residents to grow into homes/lives that can include partners and children. This will only lead to the hallowing out of even more of the City of Toronto creating more wastelands like downtown.
It is time developers are forced to forego a little their profit margins in order to help Toronto become a place where people can live and thrive by mandating the vast majority of new units constructed be two and three bedroom units large enough for families to live in long term.
