From the lush, rolling hills of North Carolina to the breathtaking landscapes that stretch across state boundaries, the Blue Ridge Parkway stands as a testament to America's natural beauty and engineering prowess. Yet, for those of us who cherish every twist and turn of this iconic drive, an important aspect is slipping away: the sweeping mountain vistas that captivate locals and tourists alike.

Imagine cruising along the parkway, only to find dense greenery obscuring the majestic views meant to inspire awe and appreciation. Overlook areas like Bull Creek, once perfect for taking in the grandeur of the Blue Ridge Mountains, are in dire need of landscaping maintenance. Cutting back the overgrown trees and brush isn't merely an aesthetic upgrade; it's a necessary step to restore our 'America's favorite drive' to its full glory and make it comparable to the famous Million Dollar Highway in the Rocky Mountains.

The Blue Ridge Parkway attracts millions of visitors each year, making it a significant driver of local tourism—and these visitors deserve the stunning views that the region is known for. Restoring and enhancing these sights could exponentially increase satisfaction and visitation rates, positively impacting local economies and supporting the myriad of jobs related to tourism.

A comprehensive landscaping initiative will ensure that every turn and every overlook offers a breathtaking perspective, showcasing the natural wonders of North Carolina. 

Many beautiful views along the Blue Ridge Parkway are not even designated overlooks. As you drive, high weeds, brush, and overgrown vegetation can completely hide valleys and mountain scenery that visitors should be able to experience. 

We want increased investment in both paid Parkway maintenance crews and trained volunteers to restore these views, including overlooked scenic gaps and every established overlook. The goal should be to responsibly clear overgrowth while following ecological best practices and protecting native biodiversity.

Where trees or other vegetation truly obstruct an important historic or scenic vista, carefully selected pruning or removal should be considered, with appropriate replanting and conservation measures where possible. This would restore the Parkway's breathtaking views while keeping the forests healthy for generations to come.

We must act now to bring this vision to life. With community support and strategic planning with local authorities and environmental experts, we can reclaim the parkway's status as a national treasure served by its stunning views.
