The Issue

From the lush, rolling hills of North Carolina to the breathtaking landscapes that stretch across state boundaries, the Blue Ridge Parkway stands as a testament to America's natural beauty and engineering prowess. Yet, for those of us who cherish every twist and turn of this iconic drive, an important aspect is slipping away: the sweeping mountain vistas that captivate locals and tourists alike.

Imagine cruising along the parkway, only to find dense greenery obscuring the majestic views meant to inspire awe and appreciation. Overlook areas like Bull Creek, once perfect for taking in the grandeur of the Blue Ridge Mountains, are in dire need of landscaping maintenance. Cutting back the overgrown trees and brush isn't merely an aesthetic upgrade; it's a necessary step to restore our 'America's favorite drive' to its full glory and make it comparable to the famous Million Dollar Highway in the Rocky Mountains.

The Blue Ridge Parkway attracts millions of visitors each year, making it a significant driver of local tourism—and these visitors deserve the stunning views that the region is known for. Restoring and enhancing these sights could exponentially increase satisfaction and visitation rates, positively impacting local economies and supporting the myriad of jobs related to tourism.

A comprehensive landscaping initiative will ensure that every turn and every overlook offers a breathtaking perspective, showcasing the natural wonders of North Carolina. Even long driving views to be completely opened!

It will align with ecological best practices to protect and preserve the parkway's biodiversity while enhancing accessibility and enjoyment for hikers, drivers, and nature lovers.

We must act now to bring this vision to life. With community support and strategic planning with local authorities and environmental experts, we can reclaim the parkway's status as a national treasure served by its stunning views.

Our Goal: We want a 1 million dollar ARISE grant, along with extra State & Federal  funding For Blue Ridge Parkway's Lanscaping!

Join us in advocating for revitalization of the Blue Ridge Parkway overlooks by signing this petition. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that generations to come will experience the beauty that defines this extraordinary landscape.
