Revitalize Hollywood Beach Theater: Demand Immediate Renovation and a Visionary Upgrade!

The Hollywood Beach Theater is at the heart of our community—a rare beachfront treasure that could become a world-class attraction. Instead, it has been left neglected and in disrepair, serving as a glaring example of urban blight. Despite community outcry and calls for action, little has been done to address this eyesore, which fails to reflect the vibrant spirit of Hollywood Beach.

As one of the most prominent landmarks on the Broadwalk, this theater is central to our community’s identity. It’s a place where thousands of people gather, take photos, and create memories. Yet its outdated design, dirty murals, and garish color scheme have been ignored by those in charge. Even recent so-called “upgrades,” funded by Margaritaville, were nothing more than a band-aid—a new roof and a few cosmetic fixes that left the theater looking just as decrepit as before.

Hollywood’s Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), led by one of the highest-paid CRA executives in Florida, George, is tasked with addressing urban blight. Yet the Hollywood Beach Theater remains neglected year after year. It’s time for action, not excuses.

Beachfront theaters are incredibly rare—there are fewer than ten in the entire world. Hollywood has a golden opportunity to turn this theater into a state-of-the-art venue that reflects our community’s potential and places us on the map as a premier cultural destination. Imagine a modern theater, designed to face north-south, where concertgoers can enjoy performances from the ocean, the sand, or the sidewalk. A new design could double capacity, host festivals, and elevate Hollywood Beach as a true cultural hub.

We demand two immediate actions:

 1. Immediate Renovation: Repaint the Hollywood Beach Theater and remove the dirty murals. Even a simple all-white design would be an improvement over the current eyesore.

 2. A Long-Term Vision: Develop a plan to demolish the current theater and build a modern, world-class venue that accommodates larger crowds and celebrates our unique beachfront location.

Our tax dollars helped fund Margaritaville, and it’s time for them to give back to the community. Hollywood Beach deserves better. Instead of prioritizing developer breaks, the city must invest in projects that directly benefit its citizens and enhance the community.
