Thurston High School in Springfield, OR has announced a new advisory schedule set to be implemented next year. As a concerned member of this community, I've closely observed the impact that this change will have on our students. Unfortunately, the schedule does not benefit our students effectively and is more likely to contribute to increased tardiness rather than alleviating it.

Students at Thurston High School have been accustomed to an advisory schedule that not only permits them to efficiently use their time but also fosters an environment conducive to academic success and personal growth. However, the newly proposed schedule drastically shifts the timing and sequence of advisory periods, causing significant disruption to students' routines. These changes may lead to longer days and subsequently increased tiredness, which inevitably impacts both academic performance and overall wellbeing.
