Revise the CFIA Ban to Include Exemptions for Reputable Rescue Organizations Like Soi Dog
The Issue
I have a personal and heartbreaking tale to tell. Just a few weeks ago, I tried to adopt two dogs that were at the Soi Dog Foundation in Thailand. Imagine my despair when I was informed that I couldn't adopt these innocent souls because of the ban imposed by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).
Sadly, this isn't just my tale. Hundreds of Canadian individuals and families who wish to offer dogs rescued by reputable organizations like Soi Dog a safe and loving home are being restricted from doing so. Despite the commendable 100% track record of Soi Dog Foundation & other organizations that with no case of any adopted dog having any disease that was sent into Canada, the CFIA's stringent ban indiscriminately places them on a list with 113 other countries.
The cruel reality faced by these dogs before they are rescued often involves brutalization, physical harm, and being subjected to near-death conditions. Many are victims of horrendous dog meat farms, that span across countries that have no laws in place for dogs or any other animal. This also needs to be urgently addressed & The Soi Dog Foundation along with other organizations like PETA are doing their best to put an end to the dog meat farms around.the world. The ban hurts those who do their utmost to recover these dogs but ultimately, the dogs themselves, who are seeking a second chance at a life free from torture.
We propose a revision of the CFIA ban to incorporate exceptions for organizations and foundations that demonstrate themselves to be committed to disease control and animal welfare. The suffering of these dogs at the hands of callous humans must not continue and organizations and foundations that are trying to help should not be compounded by legislation that throws the innocent in with the guilty.
Please join us in fighting for these voiceless animals and for those who seek to offer them a refuge. Sign the petition to prompt CFIA to revise their ban and take a more balanced approach to dog adoptions from abroad or you can help by making a donation that will help with the search and rescue of animals & their surgeries and food. You can always help by donating to
Together, we can also help global authorities to be more aware into establishing stringent laws against cruel practices like dog meat farming and punish the ppl who do unthinkable acts of crueltly to any animal. Please stand up and in front of all the animals being tortured & killed they need us to be their voice to protect them & to fight for them.
