Revise Irondequoit's Firewood Selling Code

Revise Irondequoit's Firewood Selling Code
The Issue
In the heart of Irondequoit, NY, a firewood stand not only provides a warm blaze to its customers but fosters a sense of community spirit by offering bundles of firewood for a modest $5. This stand, adorned in a decorative manner and conveniently mounted on wheels, is hardly a business as if I made $500 last year that was a lot; it's a community service by someone who has a piece of land filled with dead ash trees ready to be transformed into useful firewood.
While it has been warmly embraced by neighbors who love the convenient access to firewood, the stand is now the target of unequal code enforcement. According to Irondequoit's town code, the sale of firewood is prohibited, yet similar stands persist elsewhere in town without issue. This discrepancy has raised concerns about fair enforcement of town regulations. Furthermore the code enforcement officer wants me as a result to essentially tell on the other stands.
Notably, our neighboring towns exhibit more lenient codes that permit the sale of firewood, reflecting community norms and needs. This petition seeks not only to challenge the unequal application of Irondequoit's legislation but also to propose an update to our town code in alignment with the surrounding areas and a section about locally sourcing. I believe that rather than answer complaints and single citizens out selectively enforcing the code, work to help the people and update the town code.
Please join in calling for updated and equal enforcement of regulations that respect and reflect the needs of Irondequoit residents. Stand for fairness and a community that supports small stands that bring warmth and joy to its people. Sign this petition to ensure local codes evolve with community values.
