Revise gas load shedding timings in Karachi
The Issue
As a mother of two, living in Karachi presents its share of challenges, but one ongoing difficulty stands out: the city's current gas load shedding timings. Each morning, the gas flow resumes between 6:15 and 6:30 a.m., making it extremely tough to prepare breakfast and lunch before sending my children off to school. This struggle extends into the afternoons as well. Despite complaints to the authorities at 1199, we were told that the official load shedding schedule is from 10:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. In reality, however, we experience a three-time disruption: from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 2:30 or 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and again from 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
This schedule poses a great inconvenience for households, especially for parents who need to provide timely meals for their families. It affects our day-to-day lives, disrupts our routines, and creates undue stress. Moreover, businesses reliant on gas for cooking also face operational difficulties, impacting their service and revenue.
Understanding that load shedding might be necessary due to supply constraints, we call upon the relevant authorities to revise these timings to better suit the daily lives of Karachi's citizens. A simple adjustment could go a long way in easing the burden on thousands of families and businesses.
We suggest a more practical schedule that aligns with daily routines: limiting load shedding to a time frame outside of peak cooking hours, such as late at night or very early in the morning. This adjustment would help maintain a balance between managing gas resources efficiently and allowing residents to carry out their day-to-day activities without significant disruptions.
This petition urges the local authorities, specifically the Sui Southern Gas Company and the local government in Karachi, to consider the needs of its residents seriously and implement a gas load shedding schedule that reflects the daily realities of Karachiites.
Sign this petition if you believe in a more manageable and fair gas load shedding schedule for all Karachi residents.
