Revise Confey traffic management plan for emergency access

Revise Confey traffic management plan for emergency access

The Issue

Residents of Leixlip and Confey are deeply concerned about their safety and well-being due to the temporary road closures scheduled from January 2026 to June 2026. These closures will significantly impact our ability to access essential services and receive prompt emergency assistance, putting our community at risk. For many of us, reliable access is not just a matter of convenience but a crucial necessity for receiving urgent medical care, fire response, and other emergency services.

A stop/go system has now been added to the top of River Forest, making it impossible for residents of River Forest, River Forest View and Woodside to leave their homes.

The current traffic management plan, while temporary, poses a serious threat to our community's safety and day-to-day activities. It limits our ability to access our homes and restricts emergency vehicles from reaching us in a timely manner. Every minute counts in an emergency, and any delay could mean the difference between life and death.

We urge local authorities to urgently revise the current traffic management plan for Confey. By ensuring clear, unobstructed routes for emergency services, we can avert potential tragedies and promote community safety. Imagine the peace of mind we could have, knowing our loved ones will receive the help they need, when they need it.

Possible solutions include implementing alternative routes or temporary bypasses specifically for emergency vehicles, clearer communication channels to inform residents about road status, and regular consultations with emergency service providers to refine the management plan continuously. These measures will ensure that essential service providers can operate without hindrance and that residents can carry out their daily activities without stress or fear.

The safety and integrity of our community depend on swift action. Please join us in urging local authorities to prioritize our safety and well-being by revising the traffic management plan. Sign this petition to stand with us in solidarity for the safety and efficiency of critical emergency services in Confey.
