WHAT IF A SYSTEM DESIGNED TO PROTECT CHILDREN IS ACTUALLY ALLOWING FINANCIAL ABUSE TO CONTINUE?

This has to change.
When parents separate, the relationship may end — but the financial control can continue for years.

Our child maintenance system needs to recognise the FULL financial circumstances of BOTH parents.
Because one parent’s income shouldn't automatically tell the whole story.
This isn't about stopping parents from supporting their children.
It is about stopping CHILD MAINTENANCE from becoming a weapon of financial control.
Think about that.
A system intended to support children should never leave a parent feeling trapped, powerless or financially controlled.
💔 Children need support.
💔 Parents need protection.
💔 The system needs accountability.
We are calling for a FAIRER child maintenance system — one that considers both parents' financial circumstances and properly recognises the risk of financial abuse.
Because separation shouldn't mean losing your financial independence.
Because being a parent shouldn't mean being vulnerable to financial control.
And because children should NEVER be put in the middle of an unfair financial system.

This is about every parent who has ever felt unheard.

Every parent who has struggled to make ends meet.

Every parent who has felt that the system doesn't see the whole picture.

And every child whose wellbeing depends on the decisions adults and governments make today.
