The Issue

Austin, Texas, known for its vibrant and diverse culture, deserves a logo that reflects its true identity. While the recently unveiled City Council logo has drawn criticism for feeling clinical and out of step with Austin’s creative spirit, we deeply appreciate those who had the initiative to modernize our city’s image. Their efforts show a commitment to keeping Austin forward-thinking and evolving.

What makes Austin great is collaboration, and the partnership between the original designer and renowned artist Allan Peters exemplifies that spirit. Peters’ revised design builds on the hard work and input of many stakeholders, blending tradition and modernity into a vibrant mark that better captures Austin’s energy, individuality, and openness.

A city logo should be more than a graphic—it should be a symbol of who we are as a community. By adopting a design that embodies our shared values and creativity, Austin can proudly showcase its authentic character both locally and globally.

We urge the Austin City Council to reconsider the current logo and give full consideration to Allan Peters’ proposal, which reflects the heart, soul, and collaborative spirit of Austin. Please support this petition to ensure our city is represented by a logo worthy of its people.
