Review NMCB license fee increase
The Issue
I'm writing this petition from a place of frustration and financial strain. The recent escalation in the licensing fee imposed by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria is burdensome for many, including myself. Like countless others, I am already struggling with debt, and the abrupt hike in fees is unnecessary and unsustainable.
The decision to increase the licensing renewal fee drastically affects not just me but thousands of nursing professionals across Nigeria. As we contribute tirelessly to the healthcare system, the unexpected financial demand creates an unreasonable strain on an already overburdened workforce. The fee increase, which is significantly higher than anticipated, fails to consider the economic realities of many healthcare workers who are already navigating a challenging financial landscape.
While we understand the need for regulatory bodies to evolve and meet their operational demands, the license fee has surged to a level that is simply unattainable for many. The lack of transparency about what necessitated this substantial increase adds to the frustration. Can the Nursing and Midwifery Council reveal the justification behind this decision and explore if a more reasonable solution exists? Is it not possible to consider raising the fee to a more manageable extent, such as doubling the previous amount, instead of imposing an exorbitant rise?
We are calling on the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria to reconsider the fee adjustment. We urge them to examine the economic conditions of their members and ensure that the fee structure is fair and feasible. A constructive dialogue between the council and registered nurses could lead to a more equitable solution that accommodates both operational needs and the financial capacity of healthcare professionals.
By signing this petition, you will be supporting nursing professionals who are committed to their vocation but are financially constrained by these new fees. We need your voice to urge the council to be more transparent and considerate in their financial decisions for the wellbeing of those dedicated to supporting public health. Please join me in advocating for a fair and reasonable resolution by signing this petition today.
