The Issue

Every day, like many residents of Santa Rosa, I face grueling traffic conditions simply trying to commute to work and back home. The recent changes converting some of our city streets from two lanes to just one have not only disrupted my daily routine but significantly increased travel time and congestion. This problem directly impacts our community, leading to prolonged delays, frustration, and inefficiencies.

The single-lane conversions which were intended to improve traffic flow have unfortunately resulted in the opposite effect. According to studies and local reports, traffic congestion has significantly heightened, affecting not just commuters but local businesses and emergency services that rely on timely travel. For instance, travel times have reportedly increased by up to 40% during peak hours due to these changes.

Santa Rosa, known for its vibrant community and dynamic lifestyle, now grapples with unnecessary traffic bottlenecks that could easily be resolved. By reverting the city streets back to two lanes, we can enhance traffic flow, improve commute times, and restore the efficiency many of us once enjoyed. The benefits extend beyond convenience, as smoother traffic flow can lead to reduced vehicle emissions, benefiting the environment, and allowing local businesses to thrive with improved access.

Restoring two lanes on these streets is not only a practical solution but a necessary one to preserve the livelihood and satisfaction of thousands of residents and businesses in Santa Rosa. We've reached a point where the consequences of this decision are palpable on a day-to-day basis.

I urge the local city council and transportation authorities to take immediate action to revert these streets to two lanes. This decision can significantly ease congestion, prevent extended travel times, and most importantly, bring back the seamless experience Santa Rosans deserve.

Join me in making our voices heard to bring back the efficiency and vibrance of our streets. Please sign this petition to advocate for change in our road infrastructure, and together, let's improve the quality of life in Santa Rosa.
