The Issue

For nearly a decade, I have dedicated myself to growing my small business through Poshmark. This platform has been a lifeblood for me, providing approximately 70% of my income and supporting not only myself but others who rely on me financially. However, Poshmark's recent policy change has thrown everything into jeopardy. Their decision to restrict accounts based on unclear guidelines and to lean heavily on AI-driven customer service is devastating, not just for me, but for countless sellers whose livelihoods hinge on this platform. After Poshmark has been absorbed by Naver, Poshmark is not community oriented, but is now money hungry and empty.

The issue we face with Poshmark’s new policy of account restrictions is that it unfairly targets small businesses for sales they cannot immediately justify, sometimes over misunderstandings that could easily be clarified through human interaction. An AI-driven customer service, while efficient in some areas, lacks the personal touch and understanding context critical to resolving these kinds of issues. This impersonal approach can lead to unwarranted account suspensions and severe financial losses.

Small businesses are the backbone of innovation and economic growth. We should be fostering their development, not stifling it with restrictive policies and impersonal customer service models. The new policy is not aligned with the collaborative and community-driven spirit that Poshmark was built on.

Sales restrictions should be a careful consideration, evaluated with comprehensive input and interaction from actual people, not just computerized algorithms. We propose a revision of this policy with a focus on increased human oversight, particularly when it comes to account evaluations. By involving human customer service representatives who understand the unique challenges faced by sellers, we can foster a more supportive and fair environment for all involved.

Evidence from numerous users on platforms like Poshmark’s forums and community discussions points towards frequent miscommunications and dissatisfaction with the current AI-assisted support. Many sellers report feeling devalued and marginalized by the processes, which does not cater to the nuances of individual business models and customer issues.

I urge Poshmark to revert its policy on account restrictions and to significantly enhance the human connection within their customer support. It’s time to listen to the voices of your community and make changes that reflect Poshmark’s original mission: to empower individual sellers and creators.

Please sign this petition to bring about a necessary change that keeps Poshmark a viable and supportive platform for all small business entrepreneurs.
