Hey!
Thank you all so much for signing. I wanted to let everyone know that I've recently sent the email below to the PTO, and the Homewood Board of Education. Please keep supporting in any way you can, and I will do my part in researching more and gathering counterarguments for this cause.
We can tell the petition is already making a difference based on the email they just sent out this afternoon. Let's keep this momentum up, I believe change is possible!

Good afternoon,
My name is Marley Green, and I'm a Senior at Homewood High School. I'm reaching out to you about growing concerns with the new "EBG" grading system.
I, along with many of my fellow students, believe this new system is already diminishing our confidence and motivation in the first nine weeks. I know this is even true for some teachers as well. I'm really concerned about what this means for the rest of the school year and for those of us who are applying to colleges. From what we can tell, it has not only been poorly implemented, but poorly explained to the teachers. They are clearly struggling to understand it themselves, never mind explain it to us. Everyone is frustrated, confused, and it has only been getting worse. Even though they have recently sent out an email trying to clear up some confusion, that still doesn't account for the distress and poor motivation put onto students.
Earlier today, administrators told me that no amount of signatures will change anything. I launched a petition in response to the new grading system last night (Thursday evening), and in less than 24 hours it has over 500+ signatures from students, parents, and teachers who are equally as concerned.
I think the students, parents, and teachers deserve to have a voice, and it is disheartening to hear that student feedback of this quantity won't influence their decisions I strongly believe that sharing this petition and gaining more traction will help us have the conversation about what is best for the students. I, and many others, would love any type of support and consideration you could provide! Here is a link to the petition.
Thank you,
Marley "Max" Green
