The Issue

I am penning this petition not only as an individual directly affected by the proposed cuts to Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (A.I.S.H) recipients, but also as a representative voice for many who are in a similar plight. We are a vulnerable segment of society, struggling daily with our disabilities.

Recently, it was announced that the government intends to reduce the financial help provided to us, the A.I.S.H. recipients. This means that we, who are barely managing our financial needs, are at risk of falling into extreme hardship. Data from the Canadian Survey on Disability 2017 exhibits that about 22% of Canadians reported having at least one disability that limited their daily activities. A substantial number of these individuals is dependent on A.I.S.H. for their basic needs. The proposed cutbacks are an outright discrimination and neglect by the government towards its own citizens.

It is time to raise our voices against this unwarranted decision which threatens the dignity and security of the disabled persons in society. Let us demand the government to reverse its decision to reduce funding for A.I.S.H. recipients. We shouldn't have to fight for our survival, but we deserve living a life of dignity and respect. Sign this petition to stand in solidarity with your fellow citizens. It's time to ensure that those with disabilities have equal access to basic life necessities. Sign, share, and let's together make a change for the better.
