I am penning this petition not only as an individual directly affected by the proposed cuts to Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (A.I.S.H) recipients of Alberta, but also as a representative voice for many who are in a similar plight. We are a vulnerable segment of society, struggling daily with our disabilities.

I myself have Scoliosis, Slipped disk in my neck, Hypermobile Elhers Danlos Syndrome,  A.D.H.D., C-P.T.S.D., Depression, Anxiety, an undiagnosed type of mood disorder, Insomnia, Chronic Migraines, and Chronically Low Blood Pressure, and optic neuritus...

doctors suspect I may also have Multiple Sclerosis and possible autism 

I have been told by my doctor to wear expensive compression leggings daily to help keep my blood pressure stable the cheapest pair I found are $70 for 1 single pair of compression leggings I honestly can't afford or justify buying them when I have to pay rent bills and ensure my children are cared for and fed so I end up suffering because aish insurance does NOT cover the cost for medically needed compression leggings....

So now with the ADAP and AISH programs coming into the picture I myself and many other Albertans are going to be suffering even more we are recieving A.I.S.H. DUE TO BEING DISABLED we can not work 

Recently, it was announced that the government intends to reduce the financial help provided to us, the A.I.S.H. recipients. This means that we, who are barely managing our financial needs, are at risk of falling into extreme hardship. Data from the Canadian Survey on Disability 2017 exhibits that about 22% of Canadians reported having at least one disability that limited their daily activities. A substantial number of these individuals is dependent on A.I.S.H. for their basic needs. The proposed cutbacks are an outright discrimination and neglect by the government towards its own citizens.

It is time to raise our voices against this unwarranted decision which threatens the dignity and security of the disabled persons in society. Let us demand the government to reverse its decision to reduce funding for A.I.S.H. recipients. We shouldn't have to fight for our survival, but we deserve living a life of dignity and respect.
