Reverse the Freeze on the Personal Tax‑Free Allowance and Restore Fairness

The Issue

Britain Needs Fairness: Raise the Tax‑Free Allowance and Stop Paying Benefits to Those Who Haven’t Contributed

Britain is struggling. Hard‑working people across the country are being pushed to the limit by rising taxes, frozen thresholds, increasing Council Tax, and a cost‑of‑living crisis that shows no sign of easing. Families who work, contribute, and keep this country running are finding it harder every month to survive.

The freeze on the Personal Tax‑Free Allowance until 2029 is making life even more difficult. Fiscal drag means that every wage rise is swallowed by the Treasury. Low‑income workers — the very people who need support the most — are being taxed more without any official tax rise. This is unfair, unsustainable, and deeply damaging.

Meanwhile, our welfare system continues to provide financial support to individuals who have never contributed to the British tax system, including recent arrivals to the UK. Hard‑working taxpayers are being asked to fund benefits for people who have not paid in a single pound. This is not how a fair or responsible system should operate.

Britain must act now. We need a welfare system that prioritises contribution, responsibility, and fairness. We need a tax system that supports those who genuinely need help — not one that punishes workers while rewarding non‑contributors.

We call on the Prime Minister to take immediate action:

• Increase the Personal Tax‑Free Allowance to give urgent relief to low earners
• End benefit payments to anyone who has not contributed to the British tax system
• Require at least five years of National Insurance contributions before benefit eligibility
• Announce publicly and internationally that Britain will no longer offer benefits to non‑contributors
• Ensure that anyone coming to the UK must be able to support themselves financially
• Stop sending free financial aid and handouts abroad while British taxpayers struggle
• Redirect savings from non‑contribution‑based benefits to support working families

Britain must prioritise those who contribute. We need a fairer tax system, a responsible welfare model, and a Government that stands up for the people who keep this country going.
