DDA in a hurried fashion and without prior notice has increased its membership cost manifolds. The notice dated 14th October'24 to increase the fees is arbitrary and brings into light the apparent "elitism" promoted by the DDA. 

Like many around me, my journey with the DDA-run Sports Complex started when I was a young kid. I have been a temporary member since 2007 and have seen how it cultivates arenas not merely for sports but for community cohesion and intergenerational ties too. With the recently announced fee hike, this government-run sports complex is no longer affordable for a large number of individuals in Delhi NCR.  This escalation of fees is not merely a pocket issue. It stands in direct contrast to the Government of India's 'Khelo India' policy, a nationwide initiative that seeks to encourage individuals from all walks of life to participate in sports. With such a steep hike, the sheer essence of the policy is squandered; it vanishes, condemning a significant section of the society to inaccessibility. To make recountable, an increase of this scale is unprecedented and poses a threat to our community engagement with sports.

It is time to act before it's too late. We call on the concerned authority to reconsider their decision regard this fee increase, to prioritize accessibility and inclusivity over fiscal gains.
