Reverse the announced cuts to the New Dunedin Hospital

Reverse the announced cuts to the New Dunedin Hospital
The issue
Petition request:
That the House of Representatives urge the Government to reverse the announced cuts to the new Dunedin Hospital; specifically, to fully fund and equip the inpatient building as outlined in the Detailed Business Case (DBC).
Petition reason:
The hospital will provide tertiary services for the whole of the Southern Region, over 355,000 people.
The proposed cuts are a false economy as it will increase costs over the life of the hospital due to the need to retrofit facilities and equipment.
The announced cuts will reduce clinical capacity to care for an increasingly aging population, impacting on staff's ability to provide appropriate and safe patient care.
There is an ongoing national shortage of healthcare workers and effectiveness of the clinical working environment will become increasingly important in attracting and retaining staff.
Any cuts diminishing the services and facilities provided in the Detailed Business Case, which was agreed to by clinicians and promised by politicians, will lead to patient harm and loss of life.
Build what was promised...
