I don't necessarily care if administrators or staff at my school target me for this. I'm done playing nice. I'll fight and protest until I and all trans students get their rights back.

This week (the date of creation for this petition was 8/24/22), the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District (GCISD) announced their new policies regarding gender identity and trans youth. Teachers are no longer required to use the preferred pronouns of trans students, even if parents also request that staff refer to their children by their correct pronouns. Teachers are not allowed to encourage or openly support trans students using pronouns that "contradict" their AGAB (assigned gender at birth). Teachers are also not allowed to teach or encourage there being more genders outside the gender binary (to them, that's biological / cisgender male and female), which completely disregards not only any genders under the non-binary umbrella, but the existence of intersex people.

These new policies now allow for trans youth to be discriminated against in schools within GCISD with no repercussions. I and many others could end up suffering and dealing with micro-aggressions from transphobic staff, and nobody would be able to do anything about it.

Oh, and that's not all.

Gender identity, romantic orientation, and sexual orientation will not be allowed to be discussed to students below the 6th grade. Any books or pieces of literature that contain LGBTQIA+ representation will be banned from libraries and book fairs. Trans students will be forced to use the bathrooms for their AGAB. Last but not least, trans students won't be allowed to participate in sports at school.

My goal is to have as many people as possible sign this petition. We need to show the GCISD school board and other school districts that we won't stand for this. Hopefully, with this petition and possible peaceful protesting in the future, the board will have no choice but to rethink their decision.

Trans rights are humans rights. Trans rights are BASIC RIGHTS.
