The Issue

I am writing this plea as someone who has greatly benefited from the Peer-to-Peer Warm Line services in New Mexico. This vital resource has been more than just a hotline to me—it's been a supportive community. The trained peers on the other end have walked with me during some of my toughest times: through the grief of my mother's passing, navigating the complexities of parenting, embarking on my small business journey, and grappling with personal relationship issues. The most reassuring feeling has been knowing I am not alone during these isolated moments.

The New Mexico Peer-to-Peer Warm Line is truly a lifeline for many others in our community as well. It provides critical emotional support that is compassionate, non-judgmental, and informed by real lived experiences. This line is open to everyone, no matter their race, gender, or circumstance, and serves a diverse range of individuals, including children, parents, healthcare workers, veterans, and those facing homelessness.

However, this indispensable resource is at risk due to significant funding cuts. For many, the Warm Line is one of the few mental health resources they can access, especially for those in remote or economically disadvantaged areas. Losing this service could lead to dire consequences, leaving countless New Mexicans without a vital support system.

According to recent reports, mental health support services like the Peer-to-Peer Warm Line significantly reduce feelings of loneliness, anxiety, and depression, contributing to a healthier and more productive community. Ensuring its continuation should be a priority for the well-being of our state. We must advocate for its financial support now more than ever.

It is within our power to reverse these damaging funding cuts and restore full support to this essential service. By signing this petition, we are calling on our local government and mental health authorities to recognize the importance of the New Mexico Peer-to-Peer Warm Line and secure the necessary funding to keep this lifeline open and available to all who need it.

Join me in taking action to preserve this critical service. Your signature matters. Please sign this petition to show your support for keeping the New Mexico Peer-to-Peer Warm Line fully funded and operational.
