The Issue

My 75-year-old mother, suffering from Alzheimer’s, has been safely residing in a care home due to the essential CHC (Continuing Healthcare) funding provided by the NHS. Recently, a CHC assessment concluded that my mother is no longer eligible for this funding. This decision has left us devastated and fearful of what the future holds for her.

Without this financial assistance, my mother will soon exhaust her personal funds and will not be able to continue residing in the care home she has come to know and depend on. Her condition renders her confused and lost—survival outside such a facility is unimaginable.

As her spokesperson, I am obligated to secure her the safe, stable environment that she needs and deserves. My mother cannot fend for herself, and being forced out of the home would put her life in jeopardy.

The system designed to protect our vulnerable loved ones seems to be failing them, stripping away their dignity and safety when they need it the most. My mother’s plight is not an isolated issue. Thousands of families are facing or will face this exact situation when vulnerable older members suddenly find themselves without the continuing healthcare that they so vitally need.

This petition urges the relevant NHS authorities to reconsider the decision and restore CHC funding for my mother, ensuring that she remains in a secure environment tailored to her specific needs.

We must voice our concerns collectively to safeguard a system that should protect those who cannot protect themselves due to debilitating diseases like Alzheimer’s. Every signature brings hope and change.

Please join me in this fight by signing this petition to reverse the CHC funding decision and ensure my mother’s safety and well-being.
