Bar Uno and Barlows has always been a space for both students and the Bangor community. Its affordable daily lunches and reasonably priced meals have been a vital source of nourishment and a social hub for many.

However, the recent decision to change its opening hours has disrupted this essential service for everyone.

For students, having a reliable, convenient, and budget-friendly place to eat has always been important. Especially when balancing academic pressures, tight finances, and living away from home.

With the new opening hours, students and the community lost more than just an affordable lunch spot; but a welcoming space to relax, catch up with friends, and enjoy games of pool and darts.

It’s disheartening to see the university continue to make such decisions that negatively impacted the student experience, especially after permanently closing the on campus shop last year. 

We urge the decision-makers to reconsider and recognize the real value both Bar Uno and Barlows brings to our lives. Reopening at 12pm on weekdays would help restore its role as a vital resource for both students and the community.

Both locations have always been more than just a place to eat for many. It’s been part of our student experience and our community life. Let’s make sure it stays that way!
