Revamp the new He-Man movie to reflect the 1980s style
The Issue
Growing up, one of my favorite childhood memories was racing home after school to watch He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. Like many fans, I cherished the vibrant, bold colors and the iconic design of each character, which stayed true to the look and feel of the classic cartoon and toys. Finally, after all these years, the anticipation of a He-Man movie had me thrilled—until I watched the trailer.
To my dismay, the new He-Man movie doesn't embody the authentic aesthetic that we, the fans, hold close to our hearts. The original He-Man characters were all built with large, powerful physiques. Skeletor looks too skinny, He-Man should be much more muscular, his hair is inaccurate, and Skeletor’s face should be yellow. He’s also missing his armor. Furthermore, Castle Grayskull and the vehicles lack the charm, color and familiarity of our cherished classics.
He-Man was not just a series; it was a universe that many of us enthusiastically explored through our toys and TV screens. The powerful physiques, bold designs, and iconic armor in the original series and toys were defining features that left a lasting impression on a generation.
Too often, adaptations lose their essence in pursuit of modernization. This movie needs a re-evaluation to respect the source material that captured our imaginations and made us lifelong fans. The studio should go back and faithfully recreate the look of the original toys and the 80s cartoon. There’s no need to reinvent the wheel—the blueprint already exists. Fans of the 80s want the movie to look and feel like the He-Man they grew up with.
Support this petition to call upon the filmmakers to revise the movie's design and align it with the classic look and feel that defined the He-Man universe. Stand with us to ensure that the new He-Man movie reflects the strength, boldness, and iconic imagery that made the original series legendary. Sign now to bring the magic of the 80s back to life on screen.
