As a local Memphis resident, I never had the chance to enjoy the splendors of Adventure River, a once thriving water park here from 1985 to 1998. It was a time and place I couldn't discover before it was gone. Our current generation longs for a similar local oasis where we, too, can make memories, and swim with family and friends without the need to cross state lines.

Let's revamp Mud Island and bring back the magic of Adventure River to our community. A water resort will not just cater for our recreational needs but also breathe new life into the local economy. It will create jobs, generate extra revenue for our community, and create an added tourist attraction near Beale.

Incorporating elements such as boat rides on the river and cabin accommodations will capture the unique essence of Memphis' natural environment. Tourism dollars, according to the U.S. Travel Association, created over $22 billion in economic impact for Tennessee in 2019. A renewed Mud Island as a water resort could significantly contribute to that figure, and put Memphis, TN, squarely on the tourism map.
