Revamp Casper Registration in Jersey City & Provide Fair and Transparent Casper Process
The Issue
Introduction:
We, concerned parents of public schools, are deeply troubled by the lack of fairness and transparency in the Casper registration process. Casper is a crucial after-school program, and every child deserves an equal opportunity to participate. We demand a fair and transparent registration process that eliminates the current chaos and confusion.
Issues:
Lack of Communication: The district failed to communicate essential information about Casper’s registration, leaving parents to rely on hearsay from various sources.
Unpredictable Selection Process: The current system appears arbitrary, with spots being awarded to both online and offline registrants, creating frustration among parents who registered early.
Inconsistent Messaging: The inconsistent messaging from the district adds to the confusion and dissatisfaction among parents.
Need for Accountability: There is a lack of accountability, with no one taking responsibility for the flawed registration process.
Our Demands:
We, the undersigned parents, demand the following:
Accommodation for this year: Provide slots for kids who did not receive a slot in the order of registration.
Transparent Registration Process: Implement a transparent registration process that clearly defines the criteria for selection, whether it be a lottery system or a waiting list with specific rules.
Timely and Clear Communication: The district must communicate all essential information regarding Casper registration promptly through official channels, such as emails or newsletters, eliminating the need for parents to rely on word-of-mouth. Also communicate this ahead of time instead of doing it at the last minute, leaving parents scrambling.
Accountability: Hold those responsible for the registration process accountable, ensuring that it operates smoothly and fairly every year.
Parent Feedback Integration: Actively seek and integrate parent feedback into the Casper registration process to make it more efficient and parent-friendly.
Sign the Petition:
We urge all parents of public schools to join us in signing this petition to demand a fair and transparent Casper registration process for our children. Together, we can ensure that every child has an equal opportunity to access this vital after-school program.
Parents of PS-16, PS-5, & PS-37.
If you are from other public schools in Jersey City, please leave a comment and we can expand it.
