I am writing out of a deep concern for the wellbeing of the tropical birds that reside in the Woodside Square Mall, located at 1571 Sandhurst Circle, Toronto, ON. As someone who greatly values and respects animals, it deeply displeases me to witness these birds being deprived of their natural habitat for public amusement.

Studies have consistently shown that birds thrive best in their natural environment – a fact that the management of Woodside Square Mall seems to disregard. The mall's tropical birds are stripped off their wild instincts and innate behaviours - a reality that not only impedes their development, but also significantly compromises their quality of life (source: American Bird Conservancy).

What's more, the mall environment – with its noise, artificial lights, and constant human activity – is not conducive for birds. They are susceptible to stress and trauma, which ultimately impacts their health and lifespan (source: RSPB, UK's largest nature conservation charity).

Through this petition, I urge the mall to reconsider their decision, and return these tropical birds to their natural habitat where they can truly belong. I beseech the management to fulfil their obligation to these creatures – to not just view them as customer attractions, but as living beings deserving of respect, care and freedom.
