The Issue

Throughout the course of the NFL History, The Washington Redskins have been a staple of tradition with significant rivalries with NFC East opponents.  The mere view of the Logo gave immediate pride amongst Redskins fans.  When the mention of change due to the Name of the Washington Redskins, it seemed like everyone except the true Washington Redskins fans wanted the change.  I, myself, am part Native American and I can honestly say that my skin tone changes to dark red when I get too much sun.  However, I understand the politically correct mindset in this day and age.  One of the things that hit me the most was the following statement:  "We have disrespected Native Americans for years by allowing this term to be used...."  Yet, we disrespect the Native Americans even more by completely eliminating the history.

My proposal is to recapture the original logo and change the name to the "Washington Natives".  This will restore respect and honor back to the Native Americans and revive that historic visual of clashes from the past.  As far as the small designs like the Cursive R with the feather, you can make a Cursive N with the feather instead.  I truly believe this would the easiest and most effect way to transition back to having some of our tradition restored.

This would be an excellent time to react as they just approved the bill to make way for Washington to return to RFK Stadium.  How amazing would it be to see the original logo storm out onto the field as the Washington Natives???  With the Logo already in hand, changing "Redskins" to "Natives" is not as monumental of a task as it is to change the entire identify of Washington.  Please consider this option and allow our true fans to celebrate the revival of some of the past.  Thank you in advance for your consideration!
