Across Canada, people have been spreading misinformation about Sir John A. Macdonald, attributing historical travesties which occurred long after he had died and been buried in Kingston's Cataraqui Cemetery.

In its definitive biographic entry on Sir John, the authoritative Dictionary of Canadian Biography concluded that “nothing in his words or record supports the charge that he was a racist architect of genocide.” 

Sir John A. Macdonald was one of Canada's founding fathers.  He was the first prime minister of Canada.  He was the man who built the railroad that connects Canadians from coast to coast and he was Kingston's native son. 

We need to cancel misinformation, not cancel history.  We need to celebrate Canada, not tear it down.  Kingstonians should rise up against this injustice and be the thought leaders and champions of history on this important aspect of Canada's past.  For more information please see https://cihe.ca/
