Return Ms. Salcido to Wilcox Elementary School

Return Ms. Salcido to Wilcox Elementary School
The Issue
My son has been a part of Ms. Salcido's special education class since he started kindergarten. Thanks to her dedication, my son has achieved milestones we had only hoped he would reach much later in life: toilet training, writing, drawing, speaking in sentences, sharing, waiting his turn, and staying in his seat. These remarkable achievements are largely credited to the meticulous lesson plans crafted by Ms. Salcido and the constant support from Ms. Sandra, my son’s AAA. Now, in the middle of the second semester, we face a sudden change that has left us, and many other families, struggling to understand.
Ms. Salcido has been transferred from Wilcox Elementary School to another school without any explanation provided to the parents. This abrupt decision disrupts the continuity that is so crucial for special needs students, particularly those on the spectrum. These children thrive on routine and familiarity with their educators, forming bonds and trusting relationships that enhance their academic performance and personal growth.
The structure and predictability of having consistent educators are vital for their development and emotional well-being. The smooth transition from year to year helps them advance steadily in their education, from kindergarten through the second grade, a known period for looping with the same teacher. Disrupting this dynamic could hamper progress and stability, which many of these students rely upon.
It's more than just a change in the faculty; it is the disruption of the delicate learning environment these children depend upon. Ms. Salcido is not merely a teacher in the classroom; she has established herself as a source of safety, inspiration, and continuity for her students.
We demand a detailed explanation for this transfer and advocate passionately for Ms. Salcido to be returned to Wilcox Elementary to continue her invaluable work. Her presence benefits not just my child but each child enrolled in her class. By having her return, we reinforce the importance of consistent, nurturing educational experiences that positively impact children with special needs. Every child deserves the level of passion and dedication that Ms. Salcido brings.
Join us in urging the school's administration to reconsider this decision and prioritize the needs and continuity of education for our children. Sign this petition to voice your support for reinstating Ms. Salcido to Wilcox Elementary School and to ensure our children continue progressing with the guidance and care they deserve.
