Return Melissa Siler’s Monkeys OR Reveal Their Condition – Demand Transparency & Due Process

📢 Sign This Petition to Demand Accountability

We are calling for immediate action in the case of Melissa Siler (Case No. ODA-2026-010)—a case that raises serious concerns about due process, transparency, and the ongoing welfare of her monkeys following their seizure on January 23, 2026.

For months, these animals have remained in state custody without clear, publicly substantiated justification for continued retention—and without transparency regarding where they are or how they are being cared for.

⚠️ Why This Matters

This case is about more than one individual—it is about fair enforcement, constitutional rights, and animal welfare.

Key concerns include:

No direct evidence placing the primates at the Ohio residence within 24–48 hours prior to seizure
Cell-site data limitations, which do not confirm physical presence
Reliance on disputed third-party statements, raising credibility concerns
Documented prior compliance, including a 2023 case closed without citation
Unclear legal classification of spider monkeys under Ohio law (ORC 935.01)
Jurisdictional concerns if residency requirements were not met
At the same time, there is a critical lack of transparency regarding the animals themselves:

No confirmed public disclosure of the monkeys’ current location(s)
No comprehensive veterinary records released since the seizure
No consistent updates on their condition or well-being
Prolonged holding, increasing potential risks to their health and psychological state

🐒 The Reality

These are living, sentient animals.
Every day without clarity or resolution raises serious concerns about:

Their physical health
Their mental well-being
The quality of care they are receiving
Without transparency, there is no way to verify their safety or welfare.

✅ What We Are Demanding

We respectfully demand that the Department take immediate action by doing ONE of the following:

1. Return or Relocate

Return the monkeys to Melissa Siler immediately,
OR
Approve transfer to a properly licensed out-of-state facility designated by her
2. Full Transparency & Accountability

If the animals are to remain in custody, the Department must provide:

Full disclosure of the current location(s) of all monkeys
Complete veterinary records from the date of seizure to present
Documentation of:
Health evaluations and treatments
Diet and enrichment protocols
The names and credentials of the veterinary professionals overseeing their care
A detailed written explanation outlining the legal and factual basis for continued possession

💬 Why Transparency Matters

Accountability ensures:

Animals receive proper, humane care
Enforcement actions are based on clear, credible evidence
The public can trust that agencies operate with fairness and integrity
