Return decision power to townships on battery storage facilities

Return decision power to townships on battery storage facilities
The Issue
Our community has consistently expressed opposition to the establishment of battery storage facilities within our township. As a resident invested in the welfare and future of our neighborhood, I strongly believe that residents should have a say in whether such facilities are allowed in our midst.
Battery storage facilities can have far-reaching impacts on local communities. While they are vital for modern energy infrastructure, their placement should not be decided without local input. These facilities bring potential risks such as environmental hazards and changes to the local landscape and economy, which are best understood at the community level.
A decision of this magnitude should not be taken away from those it affects the most. Townships must have a voice in determining whether or not they are suitable locations for battery storage facilities.
Moreover, if a facility is deemed unnecessary for the community, there should be financial benefits or incentives for cities and towns that accept such developments. It is only fair that communities should benefit economically if they accommodate infrastructure that doesn’t directly serve them.
Join me in petitioning for the return of decision-making power to local townships regarding the establishment of battery storage facilities in their areas. Your support will ensure that community voices are heard and respected. Sign this petition to make a difference today.
