Sir Jeffrey Donaldson, Northern Ireland head of the DUP (Democratic Unionist Party) is refusing to help form a Northern Ireland government. After being elected through a democratic process that then sees him greatly financially rewarded in wages and expenses, he signed in to ensure the money still comes - while then refusing to do that he and his party are supposed to do.

While the people of Northern Ireland are growing poorer, more homeless, more hungry, more desperate to see a governing body that can start to deal with every day issues - bread and butter issues - Sir Jeffrey Donaldson has just done enough to ensure his pockets remain filled before scarpering off to London to keep his position there too. In the meanwhile, the democratic process of Northern Ireland is being held to ransom.

If this was an average person daring to threaten a state's democracy, it's possible they would face charges of sedition. It's reprehensible that a person who says they stand for democracy, refuses to engage in it - but is willing to still take the money through exploiting it, to suit his and his party's own agenda. Meanwhile, his very own people back in Northern Ireland are again left without many things - with more losses to come - while he has no worries about paying his own next bill or having to worry about the roof over his own much perked head. 

His behaviour is disgusting. Financial greed is obvious? Using a democratic system, exploiting it, threatening it, to hold up the lives of many, is unforgiveable - if also not an open form of blackmail?

For the above reasons and more, Sir Jeffrey Donaldson should stripped of his "Sir" title for he does not behave like a gentleman. He abuses the very democratic process he continues to exploit and use as a means to his own end. In the wake of his actions, a nation is left in turmoil and many left to longer suffer. The "Sir" title must be revoked. His actions belittle it.
