The petition has now been live for 5 days! Over that span of time, we have obtained over 350 signatures, over 4,000 views, and over 100 shares! I thank each and everyone of you for believing that this is a priority within our community and indigenous people deserve justice and equity in our municipality!

I would like to take a moment to reflect upon a few comments that stuck out to me from the opposition who are now feeling more empowered to speak and threatened by the support we are gaining:

-“Who is this guy tell him to get the f*ck outta Mahopac than.” – Facebook 12/14/19

-“Someone needs to beat the brakes Off this assh*le.” – Facebook 12/14/19

-“Should I give it to him how the Indians used to give it to ppl.” –Facebook 12/14/19

-“This d*uchebag needs a beating.” – Facebook 12/14/19

In the face of adversity I choose to persist. This campaign is 100% evidence-informed, non-violent, not profane, and conversant whilst providing space for individuals that oppose our perspective. Never forget this, for the way to combat hate, racism, and violence is through compassion and respect. 

Continue to share this petition, to end the vitriol and advocate for social justice!
