In a small town like Boutte, Louisiana, the community is never truly prepared to say goodbye to a local hero, especially someone as young and vibrant as Patrick Jackson Jr. Tragically passing away from cancer during his senior year at Hahnville High School, Patrick was more than just a football player; he was a son, a friend, and a beacon of hope and resilience.

Patrick's talent on the football field was undeniable. His dedication, skill, and sportsmanship made him an invaluable member of the Hahnville High Tigers. Outside of sports, Patrick was known for his kindness, leadership, and the infectious smile he carried everywhere. He was involved in numerous school activities and touched the lives of everyone around him.  He was also deeply involved in church activities, showing his commitment to his faith and workmanship in spite of challenges.

Now, as we mourn his untimely departure, we believe it's crucial to honor his legacy and the indelible mark he left on our hearts. Our proposal is to retire Patrick's jersey number permanently. By retiring his jersey, we not only commemorate his contributions and dedication but also inspire future generations of athletes who will walk the halls of Hahnville High School, reminding them of a young man who performed with pride and played with heart.

Furthermore, we are calling for the creation of a dedicated memorial within the school grounds. This memorial would serve as a place of reflection and inspiration, where students can remember Patrick's enduring spirit and tenacity. By allowing his legacy to continue, we foster the values he embodied: perseverance, community, and unity.

We urge the administration of Hahnville High School and the regional educators' board to act upon this proposal, ensuring Patrick is remembered not only for his achievements on the field but for the profound impact he had on the community. His memory deserves a permanent place in the school and in the hearts of all current and future students.
