Retire #3 Jesse Bethel Basketball Jersey in Honor of Zaire Fairley
Why this petition matters
Zaire W. Fairley, someone instantly loved by everyone he encountered, was a recent Jesse Bethel High School class of 2022 student-athlete graduate. Zaire was widely known and admired for doing what he loved most, playing basketball. He joined his school’s junior varsity basketball team his freshman year. During his sophomore year, he became a member of Jesse Bethel’s Boys Varsity Basketball team, where he remained and shined for the rest of his high school years as #3. He shined the brightest his senior year, not only was he made captain but also chosen as KJBJ’s Player of the Game on several different occasions. During his off-seasons, he played for the AAU team, Vallejo Generals. In his later years, he stepped up as a leader and greatly demonstrated his skills just as he did with his school’s team. Zaire graduated on June 10, 2022, he was planning to attend Napa Valley College in the fall of this year where he would continue his basketball career.
He was too pure for this world. His energy and love that he expressed was always unmatched and always full of life. It’s very rare we meet people like him.
Zaire’s beautiful spirit departed from us on Sunday, July 10, 2022. While being at Lake Berryessa with some friends, he slipped off a log and into the water causing him to drown. Sadly after being pulled from the water by an off-duty officer, he was flown to a nearby hospital where he ultimately succumbed to the tragic event.
This petition was created for Jesse Bethel High School to retire the Boys Varsity #3 basketball jersey that belonged to Zaire for three wonderful years as a way to honor him and keep his memory alive.
