Rethink Immigration and Protect Canadian Culture

Rethink Immigration and Protect Canadian Culture
The Issue
As a concerned citizen who no longer feels that Canada reflects its core identity, it is heartbreaking to witness the changes in our societal fabric. Feeling foreign in one's own country is a sentiment that echoes with many Canadians who believe that the essence of Canada is being diluted by too rapid and unchecked immigration. (Understanding were mostly immigrants and it’s needed for the economy.. has anyone asked at what rate is sustainable for existing citizens/culture? Is it benefiting society or just business? How are we measuring success?)
As a nation, Canada has prided itself on its commitment to values like equality, recognition of women’s rights, respect/strengthening of indigenous cultures and rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and environmental health, etc. We aren't perfect, but we’re working on it! Unfortunately, the influx of cultures that may not align with these values (and its rapid pace which is not supporting proper integration) is creating a rift, challenging the very principles that Canada stands for. There is growing multi-cross-party concern that our government is struggling to adequately address these issues, leading to a rise in alt-right sentiments—a trend observable globally—and causing division and hate within our own communities.
It's imperative to critically evaluate why immigration and growth are prioritized over truly improving the quality of life for existing citizens. Strengthening and focusing on Canadian identity—strongly including the appreciation of indigenous cultures—should be fundamental aspects of a revised immigration approach. Canada must foster an environment where newcomers share and uphold our core values, ensuring a harmonious co-existence that strengthens our societal bonds.
The current immigration policies need to be reassessed to prevent an erosion of Canadian cultural identity. This means developing a more rigorous immigration process that favors individuals and families whose cultural values are in alignment with those cherished by Canadians. By advocating for policies that prioritize cultural compatibility and ensure that the welcoming of new citizens contributes positively to the cultural tapestry of Canada, we not only protect but also enhance the quality of life for all.
Sign this petition to urge the government to reconsider its immigration strategies and emphasize policies that preserve and promote Canadian values and cultural identity. Stand for a Canada where citizens feel at home, grounded in shared beliefs and mutual respect.
