Retain the Resource Room and Program Coordinator Position at Howard Elementary School

The Issue

For numerous families and children of Howard Elementary School, the Resource Room and its Program Coordinator, Tamara Berge, have served as a beacon of hope during some of the most challenging times. These vital resources, providing sign-ups, vouchers, food boxes, and winter coats, have often made the difference in meeting the monthly necessities for many.

It's not just about providing tangible help - Tamara and her team have created an environment where families feel loved, appreciated, and empowered. To think of a future without the resources they generously provide is, frankly, very grim.

Yet, this is the future we face as our school board plans to eliminate the Resource Room and the Program Coordinator of Human Services position. We must not let this happen.

According to a study by the National Education Association, programs like ours significantly contribute to students' performance and wellbeing both academically and otherwise. Losing such a program and such a dedicated team member could have adverse effects on the lives of our children and our community, a risk we cannot afford to take.

Let's stand together for our children, for our community. Sign this petition to keep Tamara and her work in our school, to ensure that families continue to receive the support they need, and to express to the school board the importance of keeping such integral aids within our school system. This is not just about resisting change, it's about preserving our community's lifeline. Sign this petition and help safeguard the future of Howard Elementary School students and families.
