Retain Team Extension, WIN, and Cycle Classes for 7th and 8th Grades at GMS

The Issue

The decision of the district to remove Team Extension, WIN, and cycle classes for 7th and 8th next year came as a surprise and deeply troubling news. These periods are not just mere additions to our curriculum, but valuable components that broaden our educational horizons. WIN and Team extensions have always served as significant periods to focus on the essentials and intricacies of academic pursuits. The cycle period, with its multifaceted subject exploration, has consistently been a driving force behind our ability to understand and appreciate various topics.

Such changes not only disrupt the well-set routine of the students but jeopardize the comprehensive educational structure we have cherished so far. Statistics reveal that students exposed to a varied and exploratory curriculum demonstrate enhanced learning abilities and overall performance (Source: National Education Statistics). Also without WIN, students cannot get things done and get their afternoons free of work.

We firmly believe that this decision undermines the educational benefit these periods offer, affecting academic performance and a well-rounded development appreciated by both students and parents. Therefore, we urge GMS to reconsider this decision for the welfare of its students. Please extend your support by signing this petition and giving us a voice in shaping our educational journey!

So sign the petition, we need to stop the newer schedule from being in effect!

Our goal is to get 150 signatures, so spread the word!
