The Issue

Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust, with their recent purchase of the woods at Tan Yr Ogof Caves (accessed from the hole in the wall), now own approximately 250 acres of land surrounding the castle. This area has been used for recreation for 50+ years by the communities of Abergele, Llanddulas and Rhyd y Foel. The Trust have stated publicly that their vision is for this area to be enjoyed only as part of their visitor experience. Please sign this petition if you wish for the public to continue to be allowed free access to this area from all the historical access points, accepting the need to secure the castle building itself. We believe public access to the woodlands is compatible with the fantastic restoration work that GCPT and their team of volunteers are undertaking on Gwrych Castle and its gardens.
